“Name this movie,” junior Jon Kaden would say. He would then quote a line from an obscure movie and countdown, “five, four, three, two, one…”
When one would ask what movie or song he just quoted, he would smile and say, “I guess you’ll never know.”
The Naperville community grieved the loss of Kaden this summer after he passed away unexpectedly. Kaden was struck and killed by a train on July 29.
The affect of Kaden’s death throughout Naperville was quickly made obvious as nearly 900 guests attended his memorial service at Pfieffer Hall on Aug. 3.
However, the community sought other ways besides the memorial service to remember Kaden.
Some of Kaden’s friends set up a cross draped with bandanas, a trademark of Kaden’s style, close to the site of the tracks where he was struck.
Also, shirts and bracelets created in Kaden’s honor were sold to friends and family, many of whom sported their purple shirts on the first day of school in remembrance.
Kaden was involved at Central as a part of the boys’ gymnastics team and as a News Editor for the Central Times. He enjoyed photography and also worked outside of school at Dairy Queen on Wehrli road.
