Redhawk of the Week: Junior Ryan Culhane

Maneesh Somisetty, Staff Writer

Q: What extra-curricular activities do you participate in?

A: I play football in the fall, and I am currently in track.  I throw shot and disc.

Q: How have these activities impacted your high school career?

A: They helped me meet most of the friends I have right now.  Also, they make me feel more part of the school.

Q: Have you had any major setbacks or difficulties during high school?

A: I broke my ankle and got a concussion my freshman year.  It really set me back in my football career.

Q: How did you overcome these challenges?

A: It was not easy.  I took a long time to get back on the field.  I had to go to physical therapy, ice every day, and lift harder than I ever have to get back into playing shape.

Q: What do you like to do in your free time?

A: I am part of a church youth group.  It is called RPM (Raphael Peer Ministry) and we go to many retreats through that.  I am a leader.  Also I lift for football in my free time.

Q: What is the most important thing you’ve learned throughout high schoo
l?

A: You need to work as hard as possible and good things will automatically happen to you in the classroom and with athletics.

Q: What would you like to tell your freshman self?

A: I would tell him to pay more attention to the details, and do the little things like homework, studying and not fooling around.

Q: If you had a message to share with everyone, what would it be?

A: Be nice to people and they will return the favor.
