Ed Watson math teacher for 33 years

Q: How long have you worked at Central, and what classes have you taught? 

A: This is my 33rd year. When I started, I had algebra and fundamentals of geometry. Then I moved into advanced algebra, which we now call algebra two, pre-calculus, honors pre-calculus, and calculus. I’ve taught almost all of the different levels. Also, I coach soccer and boys basketball.

Q: Can you describe what it’s like to work at Central? 

A: It’s a great place to work. We’ve, as a family, made the decision that we wanted our kids to go to school here. So we found a way to get ourselves into the district so that not only did I have an opportunity to work here, but our kids went here. My wife became a teacher and was fortunate enough to find a job here. 

Q: What are your plans after you retire?

A:  My children have all purchased homes, so this is an opportunity for me to be able to carve some time out for them. I’m looking forward to doing some things that I haven’t had a chance to do in the past.

Q: What are you going to miss most about Central?

A: The routine. Some people have to work, but I never felt this was a job. It was an opportunity to do what I love: teaching and coaching. It’s a great place with great people.
