Q: What’s your name?
A: “Tim LaBud.”
Q: What is your position at Central?
A: “I teach Honors English 1 and Senior Rhetoric at Central.”
Q: What did you do before coming to Central? (jobs, educations)
A: “I previously taught 6th grade language arts in LaGrange, IL. I also coached the middle school’s volleyball, cross country and cheerleading teams. My path toward becoming an English teacher wasn’t always clear-cut. I attended University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where I had an initial interest in psychology, before switching to secondary education and English. I hadn’t really found my place with literature; I struggled with it. I felt like it was something like a chore, a task, until I was in high school and I had a teacher my junior year that reframed my entire perspective on reading. It’s really rewarding to see how my former students continue to grow after they graduate middle school. My goal for my past 10 years in LaGrange has been to prepare students for high school, and now my goal is to prepare students for college, which is exciting as well.”
Q: What are your hobbies?
A: “I am new to Naperville and he loves it so far. Some of my hobbies include running, watching football, movies and “trash TV,” along with hanging out with [my] family.”
Q: What clubs or extracurriculars are you currently involved with, or hope to be involved in here at Central?
A: “I really embrace Central’s pride and Redhawk spirit. There’s a great sense of community here, and it is exciting that school pride runs deep, You feel like you are in a place where everybody wants to be here and also feels welcomed and challenged. My family and I went to Red and White Night together, and you really feel the energy, the fact that people are excited to be here. Looking ahead, I am excited about coaching girls lacrosse in the spring at Central. I love coaching and getting to connect with people in a different capacity. Being in that healthy competitive environment is really rewarding and fulfilling for a lot of people.”
Q: Is there anything else you would like to talk about?
A: “I am excited to be here at Central.”
