Literary magazine fundraiser a success

On Wednesday, Sept. 30, there was a fundraiser for the Naperville Central’s Literary Magazine (Lit Mag). This event was at the TCBY on S. Washington Street.
This happened between 6:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. and was hosted by John Hayward, the faculty sponsor for Lit Mag, and TCBY. This event was held to raise funds for Lit Mag’s only publication at the end of the year in May. Lit Mag is an annual publication that includes student- and teacher-submitted stories, essays and photography.
When asked why they were holding the fundraiser, Hayward said he would prefer to have some money to supplement their budget.
“We are holding a fundraiser because our publication needs money,” Hayward said. “At the end of the year, when we are submitting our magazine for contests and critiques, it’s nice to have a little extra funds to be able to do that.”
Hayward said that he plans to have another one during the spring after the success on Sept. 30.
“I believe for our first-ever fundraising event, and for the fact it was a cool Wednesday night, it went pretty well,” Hayward said.
