Leonardo DiCaprio gives Oscar-worthy performance in ‘The Revenant’
January 26, 2016
As a personal fan of Leonardo DiCaprio and his never ending battle for an Oscar, I had to see “The Revenant.” And I’m happy to say, I was not disappointed.
“The Revenant” was full of beautiful scenery: rushing rivers and crisp pine trees. Throughout the entirety of the movie, I felt as if I was in the wilderness, surrounded by a breathing forest. The movie was filmed in Montana and Alberta, Canada, so the film was filled with breathtaking shots of foggy mountains, gorgeous skylines and powerful waterfalls.
DiCaprio displayed some of the most remarkable acting I have seen in a long time. He plays Hugh Glass, a rugged frontiersman who is attacked and almost killed by a grizzly bear. After witnessing his partner John Fitzgerald (Tom Hardy) kill his son, Glass begins a torturous journey to get his revenge.
DiCaprio himself only says a few lines; the rest is the acting of a performer who is 200 percent committed to his role. I was blown away by the depth of emotion he displayed and his determination to only give the best. If this performance doesn’t win him the ever elusive Oscar, I don’t know what will.
Overall, “The Revenant” is a must see. However, if you have a short attention span, beware. The film is 2 hours and 36 minutes long. Regardless, it is filled to the brim with passion, action, revenge, love and survival. I truly believe this is a movie that will withstand the test of time.
