‘Pride and Prejudice and Zombies’ quenches thirst for romance and blood

I’m always up for a good zombie movie, so when I heard about “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies,” I had to see it. And I must say, I was not disappointed.
The movie is set in Victorian England, so the characters have all the charm and elegance of nineteenth-century bourgeoisie. Combine this with action shots of Victorian zombies, flailing limbs of the undead and epic battle scenes between the living and the dead, you have “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.”
The plot follows the original plot of “Pride and Prejudice” very well: the dilemma of marriage that plagues Elizabeth Bennet (Lily James) and the hatred-turned-love between her and Mr. Darcy (Sam Riley). What’s not in the book is this—the Bennet sisters are fearsome zombie killers trained in China. The added drama of zombie fighting adds to the already dramatic and well-loved tale that is “Pride and Prejudice.”
Overall, the movie appeases both those who enjoy gory, elaborate battle scenes and those who live for romance. A clever twist on a classic novel, “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies” is a must-see.
