Principal addresses Central community on student-led walkout plans

Earlier this evening, Principal Bill Wiesbrook issued a Talk203 informing Central families of the plans being made by the administration for the April 20 school walkout.

Central Times Staff

Good Evening,

As you may be aware, there has been discussion of student-led events in the wake of the Feb. 14 tragedy in Florida. The voices of Stoneman High School students have been heard by our students and inspired many to support their call to action. This topic was raised at the Board of Education meeting on February 20 by our Student Ambassadors and we are aware of plans being made by our students. However, no formal plans have yet been made by NCHS or the school district regarding these events.

In the meantime, I will be inviting student leaders to meet with me to discuss this important issue. It is our hope that, together we can reach a plan on how best to meaningfully address this topic. While at this time there is not a school-sponsored event planned, it is important that you know we are not telling students they will be suspended for participating in these student-lead events.

Please contact me with any questions.

Sincerely,

Principal Wiesbrook
