“I was [a Lululemon ambassador] for a year. There’s a recruitment process, so a previous ambassador [asks if] there’s any recommendations, and Steff Nash, who is the owner of Shred 415 and was a Lululemon ambassador for five years, encouraged them to take a look at me. So they come to your workout classes, they watch your social media, you have coffee conversations, then they make their selection.
I loved [being an ambassador]. It was so transformative, I felt so appreciated and special, there is a Lululemon experiential store in Lincoln Park, we call it
the mothership, and every single Lululemon event that I went to I just felt so honored, it was inclusive. There was a really strong community connection [because] they would advocate for marginalized communities.
I was really, really inspired by my other fellow ambassadors who were also on the bench, they were just really special people, and so it’s really cool to be a part of a community of just really inspiring people.
I threw an event at Lululemon experiential for my soccer team, and they provided products for that, [so then] I could host those types of events [and] I could get products for people that were special. One of the cool events that we did was like a fitness crawl [and] I led a run portion.
I became a shred 415 fitness instructor as a group fitness instructor, but I’ve actually stopped doing that. I love attending classes but It was just too much. I felt like I was taking away from being an effective coach and taking away from my job here. Now I’m just happy to be a fitness participant. I don’t need to be leading the classes. Maybe someday [I’ll do it] again.”
