After six years in the position and eight years in the building, Tracy Rootham has stepped down from her role as principal’s secretary.
Q: How long have you worked at Central and what positions have you held?
A: I came here as the testing coordinator. Previously, I was a secretary over at the [Public School Administration Center] in the special education department. This is my eighth year [at Central] and after two years as the testing coordinator, I [became] the secretary for Principal Wiesbrook. And then when he retired, I transitioned over to being the assistant for Mrs. Thornton.
Q: What have you liked most about working at Central?
A: This is a great school. It comes from the leadership that we are supported, that we are cared about and that we are appreciated. I think what’s really nice with this position that I’m in is that I’m able to have contact with every person in the building whether it’s a teacher, support staff or custodian. I’ve gotten to know such really great people. This building’s just full of good things.
Q: What are your plans for after you leave?
A: We are relocating to Tennessee. Once we get sorted out and settled in, I’m going to find opportunities to do some volunteer work.
