Q: What’s your name?
A: Megan Pawelkiewicz.
Q: What is your position here at Central?
A: I am a PE and health teacher. Right now, I teach three sections of freshman PE, one section of sophomore PE, and one period of Health.
Q: What did you do before coming to Central? (jobs, educations)
A: Before Central, I worked at Carpentersville middle school as a PE and Health teacher. I was also a PEAR (Partnerships in Education and Resilience) professional [as a] teacher’s aid. Education wise, I went to Elmhurst college for a bachelor’s degree in sports management, and then I decided to go back to school at Concordia University to be a teacher.
Q: What are your hobbies?
A: I like to bowl for fun. I also like to golf and play pickleball with my friends. An interesting hobby I have is something called sled hockey. I am a volunteer on a team. Sled hockey is an adaptive sport for people with physical disabilities. I am part of the Chicago Hornets Sled Hockey team and we play against able-bodied teams to fundraise for things like equipment and travel costs.
Q: What clubs or extracurriculars are you currently involved with, or hope to be involved in here at Central?
A: I will be an assistant coach for Girl’s Lacrosse. I am hoping to be able to be more involved with sports and athletics as things open up, hopefully softball and golf. I would like to learn about other club opportunities.
Q: Is there anything else you would like to talk about?
A: Not that I can think of. I am a big fan of pets. I have four cats at home. I am excited to see the opportunities Central has for me but also for students.
