Sean Combs, also known as Puff Daddy or P. Diddy, was arrested on Sept. 16 without the possibility of bail on sex trafficking and racketeering charges. Though he was arrested only recently, the allegations of his misconduct go back for years.
On Nov.16, 2023 Diddy’s ex-girlfriend Casandra Cassie Ventura sued him for sexual assault and abuse, sex trafficking and sexual violence. That lawsuit was resolved and Diddy paid the $30 million that Ventura was asking for. He came out with a statement claiming that this was not an admission of guilt and he just wanted to make the lawsuit go away. This opened the door for others to come out against Diddy. Joi Dickerson and Liza Gardner both accused him of sexual assault on Nov. 23, 2023 increasing the parade of people starting to come out against Diddy. But the situation escalated on Dec. 6, 2023 when a girl came out saying that she was trafficked by Diddy and his friends.
Though the train of accusations against Diddy was still going, he issued a statement on his Instagram saying that he had had enough of people slandering his character and claimed his innocence. The final straw that pushed the investigation was on Feb. 26 when Diddy was accused of sexual assault again by his producer of “The Love Album”. Lil Rod sued P. Diddy for $30 million over alleged sexual assault. In March of 2024 Diddy’s house was raided by the FBI and people were taken into custody.
With the investigation on-going, a lot of evidence started to come to light. A video of Diddy kicking and punching Ventura, from 2016 finally surfaced eight years later. This video proved that there was some substance to Ventura’s allegations and also made the public turn on him. All of the hate he got caused him to release a fake apology, saying that he takes “accountability for his actions.”
Finally, he was arrested on Sept. 16 in the Manhattan hotel in New York City where he had been residing for two weeks with the “full intention of turning himself in,” though this was probably untrue. In a matter of no time, Diddy went from soaring high to a caged bird.
Diddy kept hidden cameras in all of the rooms of his house, recording his “freak offs” and exposing everyone involved in the set-up and participation, including multiple elite people. He used his business and employees to facilitate the “freak offs,” who would stock the rooms with all of the supplies (like the 1,000 bottles of baby oil), keeping them going for days and using several narcotics to keep people compliant. Because these “freak offs” were recorded, Diddy was able to blackmail his victims to keep them participating in the activities.
When the public found out about the videos, they started speculating about who else could be involved. This started a “Diddy witch hunt” that has now accused people like Usher, Pink and Megan Fox, who allegedly all had some suspicious activity after the scandal was uncovered. Whether these people are actually involved is unclear, but what does have evidence is the systemic problem in Hollywood. The biggest problem uncovered isn’t Diddy’s crimes, it’s how long they were able to be kept under wraps.
