“Make America Great Again” is President Donald J. Trump’s promise to America, and I believe him. These past four years have been interesting, to say the least. Under former President Joe Biden, we have seen some unfortunate moments like him falling down stairs and slurring his words during speeches, but we have also seen problems created that affect the safety of the American people, such as the major increase in gun violence, and the mass increase in illegal immigrants coming into America.
The inauguration has helped me feel more at peace with where this country is headed, with President Trump in power. Trump and Vice President JD Vance have discussed plans to start deporting illegal immigrants. They are working with agencies, such as ICE, to speed up the process and have decided to invade schools and churches as well to avoid people trying to hide from deportation. Trump has already jumped into action by speaking with Mexican president Claudia Sheinbaum about ways to close the border.
Inflation has also already started to go down. In my area, gas prices have gone down from as high as $3.29 to $2.98. My family personally uses a lot of gas due to the after-school activities my sister and I participate in. I know this decrease in gas prices will benefit my family, because we won’t have to spend as much money on gas.
There are actions that Trump plans to take that have worried many people, because of the rumors that surround them. The biggest thing that people are stressing over is abortion laws. We did not “lose our rights” as women. Trump’s abortion laws do not apply to women in cases of rape, incest and any need to protect the mother. This is very fair in my personal opinion, because abortion is not a joke and shouldn’t just be thrown around when a woman accidently becomes pregnant. If a person doesn’t want a child or isn’t sure, then they shouldn’t be participating in such activities. You are dealing with someone’s life, not erasing a mistake on paper.
One of Trump’s executive orders stated that the U.S. will recognize only two genders, male and female. He did this because the government tries to include “gender into every aspect of public and private life.” I agree with this statement because it’s not the government’s job to determine whether things should be associated with gender; that should be left up to private businesses and your personal choice on how you want to handle those topics. Therefore, there should be only two genders recognized nationally. In all honesty, there are only two genders, with the exception of intersex, which is agreed upon by a lot of scientists that have devoted their time to studying the human body.
While many people have tried to portray Trump as a joke, Biden has proved to be the bigger one. I am greatly appreciative of the fact this country made the right decision in who our next president is. Trump has shown that he is willing to take action, right after he was brought into office he started putting out orders. These next four years will be spent “Mak[ing] America Great Again.”
