“Make America Great Again” is President Donald J. Trump’s promise to America, and I believe him. These past four years have been interesting, to say the least. Under former President Joe Biden, we have seen some unfortunate moments like him falling down stairs and slurring his words during speeches, but we have also seen problems created that affect the safety of the American people, such as the major increase in gun violence, and the mass increase in illegal immigrants coming into America.
The inauguration has helped me feel more at peace with where this country is headed, with President Trump in power. The unauthorized immigrant population greatly increased under Biden’s term. Trump and Vice President JD Vance have discussed plans to start deporting these unauthorized immigrants. They have already directed agencies, such as ICE, to speed up the process and check locations where unauthorized immigrants may be hiding.
Trump has stated he wants to lower inflation by a great deal. Many people have been worried about buying and renting houses due to the increase in mortgage rates. In Trump’s first term the highest point of fixed rate mortgage was 4.94%, in 2018. When Biden was in office the rates became as high as 7.79% in 2023, according to Federal Reserve Economic Data. Should I choose to live off-campus in college after graduating high school in 2027, I want to have that reassurance that I will be able to afford it. It is unfortunately scary and worrisome how high mortgage rates and inflation have become, but I am confident Trump will be able to help solve the problem.
Many men and women in the United States have concerns regarding abortion laws. Trump has left the decisions on abortion up to the states, as he is not implementing a nation wide abortion ban. On June 24, 2022, the supreme court overturned Roe v. Wade, allowing states to restrict or ban abortion. Now 12 states have a total abortion ban, according to the Center for Reproductive Rights. Leaving this decision up to the states allows for women to have a little more choice than completely banning it across the United States. The national government should not have a say in abortion because, while I would never get one myself, I don’t think the entirety of a government should ban something like abortion altogether. I think by giving it to the states the state representatives are able to speak for the opinions of the people in that state and make a good decision based on that.
One of the biggest issues for me is gun violence in America. Nowadays you hear about more and more school shootings, and as a student I worry about whether that could be me one of these days. Having Trump as President allows me to feel safer when going to school because he plans on stopping this violence. More people died due to guns and the injuries they caused in 2021, Biden’s first year, than any other year that has been recorded, according to Pew Research Center. I am also concerned with the fact that under Biden’s presidency a study conducted by The Trace and USA Today discovered that the “ATF had routinely allowed gun dealers to stay in business even after committing violations that could have armed criminals.” While Biden took action after the study, it being a problem in the first place is alarming. I do not support the idea that criminals are allowed to roam free with guns, especially without the public’s knowledge — something I believe Trump will do an effective job of further cracking down on.
One of Trump’s executive orders stated that the U.S. government will recognize only two genders: male and female. He did this because the government tries to include “gender into every aspect of public and private life.” I agree with this statement because the government should not be recognizing all of these different ideas and beliefs that people have on the interpretation of “gender.” Therefore, there should be only two genders recognized nationally.
While many people have tried to portray Trump as a joke, Biden has proved to be the bigger one. I am greatly appreciative of the fact this country made the right decision in who our next president is. Trump has shown that he is willing to take action, as right after he was brought into office he started putting out orders. These next four years will be spent making America great again.
Closeted Trans :D • Feb 4, 2025 at 12:39 pm
“V-Coding” refers to the practice of placing trans women with aggressive (cis) male cellmates to maintain social control at the womens’ expense. Trans women used in this manner are often raped daily, often with the assent or even support of prison guards. Those who fight back are charged for assault, and have their sentences extended and/or lose parole.
Still think that we should recognize only two genders, based on sex assigned at birth?

Im not sure why you think Trump is gonna lock up criminals, he has little control over that. He also just freed all guilty criminals who attacked on Jan. 6.

I’m just confused on the point about gun violence. Biden signed Bipartisan Safer Communities Act into law which was the first major set of laws on gun regulation in around 30 years. However, during his first term, Trump repeatedly spoke at NRA conventions after they had backed his campaign with around $30 million, so I don’t see why he would help make gun laws stricter?

Before Roe v. Wade was overturned, abortion was banned in zero of the states, as Roe v Wade made it so states did not have the ability to completely ban abortion. Turning this decision over to the states has made it harder for women to access abortion as now states have the ability to ban it, meaning that women are not being given more protections.
