Naperville Central’s Student Advisory Council will host a movie night for all students at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 21 in the cafeteria.
The group aims to boost school spirit and offer students a chance to connect outside of the classroom.
“SAC’s goal was to establish a new tradition and provide the whole student body with another opportunity to spend time together and have some fun outside of school hours,” SAC co-sponsor Ryan Crawford said. “Based on student feedback and input from members of our council, we decided on hosting a movie night to include as many students as possible in the event.”
Planning for the event began in October, with SAC creating an Event Committee to handle logistics. The committee was responsible for creating promotional materials, developing a student engagement plan and working with school administration.
“Our entire council has taken part in the planning, but the majority of the work to develop and execute this event was done by our Movie Planning subcommittee,” Crawford said.
The movie that was chosen for the event is “Ratatouille,” a 2007 animated film about a rat who dreams of becoming a chef in Paris. Popcorn and cotton candy will be available to all students.
“A movie night felt like the perfect way to bring people together and give everyone a chance to relax and have fun,” said Helen Liang, SAC’s Vice President of Community Outreach.
SAC aims to expand future movie nights by increasing attendance and adding new features like prizes to further engage the student body.
“We’re hoping to make this event even bigger next year and create a tradition that students look forward to,” Liang said.
Tickets are available to purchase for $5 each on GoFan.
