Recently, Kanye West has been back in the public spotlight after complaining about the “injustices” in his family life.
Leveraging his 33.3 million X followers, Kanye has attempted to go to war with his ex-wife Kim Kardashian for custody of his kids, and while some people consider this a noble act, it’s really just tacky and disgusting. It is revolting to watch him use the attention of millions in order to fight to see his kids.
West has taken to X to complain about Kardashian, posting things like, “Yes, I have beef with the people that froze my accounts, took my kids and tried to have me put in jail.” In all honesty, I am not a big fan of Kardashian either. Both are sad excuses for celebrities, but airing out their family’s dirty laundry for the public to see is shameful on West’s part.
West has repeatedly complained that he feels as if he’s in jail, saying that seeing his kids feels more like visitation rather than actually raising them. He also declared that he will “go to war” with the Kardashian mob, Hulu and Disney+ for “[using] the selectively bred Black children to be platforms to influence Black people.”
Children develop enough trauma from parents who fight inside the house, but this is in a whole different league. Their kids are forced to witness their public fights and become involved in their legal battles. I have never had high expectations of the West or Kardashian families, but this is a new low. The trauma that these poor kids are going through watching their parents openly battle for everyone to see is honestly so upsetting.
Most recently, West condemned Kardashian after she objected to North’s voice being featured on his new song “Lonely Roads Still Go To Sunshine” which also features Sean Combs, known as P. Diddy. As a father, how could West allow his underage daughter to work with an alleged criminal? It is something I still don’t understand. This is a new level of child exploitation that I never could have seen coming. It’s not uncommon for famous parents to use their kids to make money — in fact, it’s everywhere. From regular TikTokers to family vloggers to actual celebrities, parental exploitation is widespread. But this situation crosses a new line. Allowing a child to work with an alleged criminal, especially one like Diddy, and calling it good parenting is unheard of.
Not only that, West took it a step further by leaking screenshots of his and Kardashian’s messages regarding North’s involvement on the aforementioned song. West wrote, “Amend it or we’re going to war. And neither of us will recover from the public fallout.” Not only did West want his daughter to work with a sex offender, but he also chose to threaten North’s mother. The extent that some celebrities will go to in order to exploit their children for money is honestly just sad. As of recently, Kardashian has taken legal action to block the song’s release and to have it taken down from X after West posted it.
Seeing all of West and Kardashian’s dirty laundry aired out to the public by West is so unfortunate, because privacy is crucial for their family’s sanity. West clearly doesn’t care. Overall, a family’s private matters should stay within the family. Using the public as a weapon to win a “war” is just a reckless and uncaring move.
