Naperville Central’s annual talent show, Central’s Got Talent, will be held during the school day on Friday, March 28.
The talent show is developed by the Diversity and Inclusion Board, as well as the Tech Crew and Speech Team contributing to the production of the show.
The Diversity and Inclusion Board began developing this year’s talent show right after winter break.
“Our goal is to create hallway signs […] and just really get the word out there and communicate with all the different clubs,” said Diversity and Inclusion Board sponsor Sarah Kandl. “We try to get the word out as soon as possible when we get back from winter break and then we collect registrations through a google form, which is typically open for four to five weeks.”
The Diversity and Inclusion Board then selects auditions to perform in the show and then holds a dress rehearsal the day before the talent show.
Senior Carlos De La Tejera Silva will perform an original song with his friends in the talent show.
“It’s something me and my friends wanted to do,” De La Tejera Silva said. “To play at a show, our own concert. This is the closest thing we got to that.”
The speech team also contributes to the development of the talent show by writing introductions for each performance.
Although the show is not named the Multicultural Show anymore, the Diversity and Inclusion Board still wanted to share the cultural aspects of each performance.
“Every talent has culture,” Kandl said. “Part of the show is that we have slides running behind each performance on both sides of the stage that tell a little bit of a history behind what that talent was.”
Central’s Got Talent will be held in the auditorium and will consist of 22 performances.
“We have some really cool shows this year, and we’re very excited,” Kandl said.
